A memorial meeting and prayer ceremony was held at the newly late National Medalist of the Warrior freedom fighter commander of the Muria Union of Beanibazar upazila. The meeting was held on Friday in the premises of the freedom fighter’s rural home.
Chaired by Abdul Malek, the younger brother of freedom fighter Manik Ali and in circulation of Manik Ali’s son, senior assistant secretary of the Home Ministry, S. M. Mahbubul Karim, Awami League newly elected president of Beanibazar Upazila Awami League, freedom fighter Ataur Rahman Khan, Beanibazar municipality panel mayor Roshna Begum, former Vice-Chancellor of the Upazila Volunteer League, general secretary Faisal Ahmed, former organizational secretary of the Borolekha Students League Abdul Latif, General Secretary of the Purbo Muria Youth League,Sultan Ahmed Tipu and journalist Ahmed Reza were the head of the speeches.
Ali Ahmed, a member of the Muria UP was present at the meeting. Mr. Islam Uddin, the headmaster of Sharopar Government Primary School, son of freedom fighter Manik Ali, S. M Masriul Karim, S. M Mazharul Karim, S. M Mansurul Karim, journalist Kritish Talukder, senior correspondent of Beanibazar News24 and ABTV Tajbir Ahmed Saim and correspondent Azim Uddin Arif were present.
It may be recalled that freedom fighter Manik Ali lost two eyes and one hand for the country on December 7,1971. He died of heart disease at 9a.m. on October 23 last.
